Definition: The function of social security systems is to collect contribution from the employed, investing accumulated fund, and finally, paying retirement pension to the retirees. Therefore, determining retirement age is one of the key issues in sustainability of social security funds. However, Iran's demographic trend is shifting toward aging, which causes the imbalance between the resources and expenditure of the Funds. Early retirement, meanwhile, is putting more pressure on the Funds. Early retirement means an increase in the number of pensioners, besides the decrease in the number of insurance contribution payers, leading to increased spending and reduced resources.
Objective: In this study, an attempt has been made to identify and analyze some of the factors affecting the demand for early retirement. Undoubtedly, the findings of this study can help the officials of Social Security Funds to be able to manage the retirement age, and thus bring their resources and expenses closer to balance. This study examines the factors affecting early retirement demand in Iran from 2005 to 2017, with a focus on replacement rate, implicit tax, and unemployment rate.
Method: For this purpose, the Logit model is used in the form of pooled data model. Result: The results of the research show that implicit tax has a positive effect on early retirement demand, but there is an inverse relationship between the replacement rate and unemployment rate with early retirement.
