Social protests do not happen overnight. Most social protests are rooted in deeper cultural, political, economic, or other phenomena. Also in France, the set of protests, which we know as the general title of "yellow vests", were not created overnight. More than a thousand people have been injured and detained during this period. However, the streets of many France cities are unstable. The current text is a translation of Grisaille’s interview with Samuel Hayat, a researcher at the National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS) on January 6, 2019. In this interview, he explores the reason for formation and the logic of the protests and the continuation of the protests, relying on the concept of "moral economy" as a central concept. He refers to the problem of the accumulation of issues arising from neoliberal policies at the global level in general and in France in particular, and attributes part of the reason for these protests to these interventions. According to the delegation, formal policies that have reduced social cohesion have triggered widespread social backlash in France, one of the most recent being the formation of protests called yellow vests, which are a form of community defense. In addition to the contextual dimension, he also addresses the issue of new forms in yellow vests protests, and provides a transient analysis of these new forms of street protests. Making some guesses about the future of this protest movement is another aspect of his interview.
