Oral History of Media Activities of Social Security Organization in the Last Three Decades (from 1993 to 2018)

Abstract

This research illustrates an image of goals, approaches, and ways of media activities of the Iranian Social Security Organization, based on narrative oral history, documentation of experiences and diaries from the ex and current officials of the organization besides its media.
Method: The research is based on qualitative method and oral history. Therefore, we had deep interviews major actors of six media of the organization consisting of:
the ISSO website; Tamin weekly paper; Tamin 24 website; New Atiyeh weekly paper; Ghalamro Refah magazine; … .
Findings: The beginning of the ISSO media releasing goes back to the management period of Mehdi Karbasian, who had a communicative insight and believed in using media to raise public awareness on Social Security Organization. In this period “Atiyeh weekly paper” and “Tamin magazine” were founded and professional staff  were trained to be active in the field of welfare and social security media.
The second era, is coincided with leadership of Mohammad Sattarifar, who  stabilized the importance of the ISSO media activity on society and politicians.
In the third era, by presidency of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, media in this organization became got a political role, so that “Atiyeh weekly” was replaced by “Khorshid daily”.
At last, in fourth era which began from 2013, the new team supported developing media activities. Therefore “Khorshid daily” was stopped and “New Atiyeh weekly”, “Tamin 24 website” and “Ghalamro Refah magazine” started working.
