Abstract

Occupational accidents occur due to various causes. The aim of this study was to determine and to examine the casual factors of occupational accidents registered in Security Organization. The current study was a descriptive and analytical study on the registered occupational accidents in Iranian Social Security Organization (ISSO) during the years 2011 by 2015. First, the primary data including the data were existed at the accident registration system of ISSO were extracted and then, it was statistically analyzed after data classification. The multivariate statistical analyses and also economic evaluations were adopted in this research.
The index of Years of Life lost (YLL) was estimated using the life tables. The life expectancy for the death and permanent-disabled people were extracted through the life-tables and the sum of them was calculated as the Disability Adjusted Life Years (DALY) index. This index was additionally estimated using ANSI model as well. Based on the ISSO’s statistics, the percentage of injured people to the total insured population was roughly constant during the year 2011 to 2015. As, the prevalence of the accident was 1.88 at 2011 with a decreasing trend of 1.47 by 2015.  In addition, considering the type of accidents surveyed in this study, about 60% of accidents were related to the cutting and amputation, falling, slipping, and catching within or between objects. Based on the DALY and ANSI indices, the highest number of death as well as the number of permanent-disabled people (11994 and 5224 years, respectively) were only observed in 2013 during the five years of study. The total current value of the ISSO commitments (in 2015), approximately from 2011 to 2013 had an increasing trend and in 2013 with a highest rate of 868.90 billion Rials during these years cost to the ISSO. In accordance to the findings in this study, despite of the deceasing trend of accidents by the year 2015, focusing on the decreasing of such accidents from the ssviewpoints of casual factors and its economic impacts are of importance. Particularly, from the viewpoints of human dignity and value and also considering the productivity of ISSO, looking at the preventive and remedial actions are very important.
