Objective: The present study was conducted with the aim of investigating the general principles and approaches in social security.
Method: In terms of its purpose, this research is a theoretical study in which library resources are used to collect data. In this regard, along with a brief overview of the history of social security, the general approaches of social security in Iran and the international system have been investigated. In addition, the social security convention, the recommendation of social protection classes, the equality of treatment convention and the social security rights convention as the most important documents of the International Labor Organization in relation to the policies of the social security system have also been examined.
Findings and Results: The findings of the research indicate that in relation to the role of social security in today's societies, it was found that social security is for people who are facing illness and disability, unemployment, loss of a spouse, childbirth, the responsibility of caring for young children or retirement from work. , has many advantages.
Also, based on the results obtained in this research, it was found that the security and stability of life, supporting people for independence as well as supporting the continuity of normal family activities are the most important principles and approaches of social security in international documents. Also, the examination of the goals and actions of the social security organization in Iran also shows that the aforementioned principles have been considered as the main approaches of social security in Iran.
